With the motto "FRIENDSHIP!", the organisers called on everyone to be peaceful and responsible in their dealings with others, with the environment – and with themselves. The Street Parade was extremely peaceful – the motto was followed perfectly on the streets by the Parade guests.

After ten sunny parades, St. Peter had no compassion for the dancing mass of people in 2002. It rained the entire day in buckets and the thermometer showed a cool 17 degree Celsius. The zest for life among the Street Parade attendees, however, remained unbroken despite the terrible weather conditions.
The Street Parade broke another record - although it was becoming increasingly difficult to calculate the exact number of participants, the estimated number of revellers stood at 450 000 - 500 000 in the summer of 1997.
Inspired by a television report on the Berlin Love Parade, Zürich mathematics student Marek Krynski asked the city police authorities for the authorization to organize a «demonstration in support of love, peace, freedom, generosity and tolerance» in June 1992.
